How to Create a Professional Online Presence

Many people who are creating an online presence, just jump in without learning the rules of the game. This might be especially true for network marketers. You may have noticed that the people who tried building their MLM businesses offline by talking to everyone they know, are doing the same thing online. Those tactics didn’t work in the offline world, why would anyone think they would work online?
Those of us involved in attraction marketing have an obligation to educate people who are new to the field. To that end, here are three things students of attraction marketing should do to create a positive and lasting Internet presence.
1. Commitment
Be committed to learning everything you can about internet and attraction marketing. There is a ton of great information on social networking sites like Hubpages and Squidoo. One of the best sites out there is Better Networker. This site allows you to exchange ideas with some of the top Internet marketing leaders, learn from the pros, and gain tremendous exposure.
Anyone who is serious about their business should also join a training program so they can learn all about attraction marketing and how to implement it successfully. This will shorten the learning curve tremendously and accelerate results.
2. Credibility
Attraction marketing is all about creating value for your target market so they approach you and initiate the business relationship. Ultimately, people are going to be attracted to those who have credibility.
So how do you achieve credibility in the online world? By presenting yourself as a professional who is willing and able to help people with their needs. You lose credibility when you flash your products and services in people’s faces. Instead, brand yourself as someone of value, and let your products and services take a backseat. Come from an honest place of wanting to help others, and your credibility will shine through.
And when people perceive you as someone with credibility and integrity, it will naturally follow that they will want to do business with you. That might not mean they will join your team (right away or in fact ever). But it will mean that you can work together and support one another to reach your goals. Which brings me to the 3rd C.
3. Collaboration
Interacting with others is at the heart of what Web 2.0 is all about. By connecting with people online, we shape the face of the Internet. The Internet also gives us the opportunity to build a community of collaboration and mutual support.
I can’t tell you how many amazing people I have met online. And the strongest bonds I’ve developed are with those I’ve talked to offline. Obviously you aren’t going to talk with everyone, but you will come across people with whom you would like to take things to the next level. It might be someone who’s advice you are seeking, or someone you genuinely think you can help. Or it might be someone you would like to partner with in some way.
For instance, there is a woman I met who has asked me to write articles for her site. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship because I provide valuable content for her and she promotes me in the process. There are unlimited possibilities to the kinds of collaborative relationships you can develop with people you meet online.
You don’t have to do this alone. There are some great resources, programs, sites, and people here to help you. Take advantage of all that, and your business will not only flourish but be a lot more fun.
Share your ideas about the types of collaborations you’ve developed, or leave your feedback on other aspects of this article. Thank you!
